VIN decoder and understanding options on data card

I just purchased a used T1N 2005 2500 Sprinter from the company that bought it originally (one owner). I was curious to learn what was on the van when originally delivered back in 2005. I found this website where one can input a VIN number and get the original data card for free:

VIN Decoder for Mercedes-Benz

It produces a report showing the Code and Description for all options on the vehicle. For example

Code Description
S22 DRIVER'S SEAT ARMREST
XL8 WEIGHT VARIANT 3880 KG

Of course, my list is far longer than just these two items, this is simply meant as an example of what you will get. In my case, it went on for two pages and this is a simple cargo van.

Does anyone have documentation on these codes? In particular a more detailed description of exactly what they are?

I used to use that site a lot but recently another forum member posted a link to MB EPC...

With this you then get access to the full parts breakdown of every component on your Sprinter! Click the grey box on the data card page.

The two codes you listed mean you have a single armrest on your drivers seat and you likely have uprated axles for the increased GVWR of 3,880 kg (8,554 lb). eg code 'A50 Front axle with increased load capacity' and 'C33 Rear springs harder'. Standard weight rating would have been 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) as this is the typical max for a European car driving licence.

Thanks, Keith, yes mbepc.net gave me additional information that I did not get from www.LastVIN.com. Interestingly both sites show I have Code 580 for which LastVIN.com has a description of AIR CONDITIONER while mbepc shows SA code 580 without a description (blank). Perhaps it is worthwhile to check both sites as they are both free.

Many of the codes are self-explanatory such as FG8 CUP HOLDER(S), FRONT while others such as EK1 TERMINAL STRIP FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION not so much.

Is there a list of all possible codes somewhere? I am thinking of something which would help a prospective purchaser in choosing what options they would want on a new Sprinter they might be ordering?

Wherever you go, there you are.

There is a document called the Dealer Ordering Guide (DOG) which explains (more or less) each of the options available, at least for recent years. I don't know if they were using a document by that name or another one like it back in 2005, but you can certainly search for that name on the internet and likely come up with a few hits. The EK1 option puts three electrical source terminals under the driver's seat, used for powering accessories. If you search the term "EK1" on the forum you'll definitely get results. The same is probably true for other popular options - if you can't find a Dealer Ordering Guide that lays them out, you may very well get hits either on a forum search or perhaps even on a Google search for the option code.

Oh - and even a more recent Dealer Ordering Guide may be useful, as I don't think MB changes the option codes too frequently. EK1 is still the same today as it was a while ago, at least up to 2017 (I have a 2017 Dealer Ordering Guide).

Here's what the EK1 looks like in a T1N (2005):

EK1T1Nbot.jpg

That's under the driver's seat, mounted on the side wall that's closest to the emergency brake.

The file size limits have been expanded ... here's the 2020 Equipment Guide (which has the codes that correspond to the datacard lists, too):

Thanks so much Dick! This is the missing link for deciphering the datacard I obtained from mbdecoder.com. Although US, it seems to apply to Australian models as well,

A while back, there was a thread of "You show me your datacard, i'll show you mine" which collected a bunch of the lists.

There are occasional tweaks based upon the year the list was generated, but usually it's just in the text.
For example: FY6 CENTRAL LOCKING WITH RADIO REMOTE CONTROL NAFTA
sometimes appears as FY6 CENTRAL LOCKING WITH RADIO REMOTE CONTROL (315 MHZ)
... which is the frequency that NAFTA vehicles use for such things.

My 2020 Sprinter 170 card has an "X30 - Low and High Range 4x4 package". The document has "ZG3 - 4x4 - High range transfer case w/ low gear". What I was looking for was how much the body is raised. Anyone know if the X30 raises the chassis same as the ZG3 (3.94" front, 2.95" back)?

Also the configuration link provided no information for my VIN??
