I bought a 2004 2500 Dodge Sprinter early this year. I love it, have already driven it cross country and back twice, but now I need to have some repair work done, and don't want to keep going to the Dodge dealership. Does anyone out there have an independent mechanic who knows how to work on Sprinters and is in the SF/Bay Area - preferably East Bay (I live in Oakland)?

I did a search on www.yelp.com for "european auto repair", and sorted it by the highest ratings. Then I called each one of the top repair shops. I only did the first page or so and I came up with the following shops. I don't have any experience with them other than a brief phone conversation, but the first one below seem promising:

1. Precision Motor Works
2545 Keystone Ave
Santa Clara, CA 95051
(408) 985-2316
http://www.precision-motorworks.com/
Five stars rating out of five with 45 reviews.

I talked with Chris. He seemed to know a lot about Sprinters. They have several regular Sprinter customers. He said he only uses genuine Mercedes parts and the parts in general are not hard to get.

2. European Auto Repair
1170 Willow Ave
Sunnyvale, CA 94086
(408) 984-8633
http://www.europeanautoonline.com/
4-1/2 stars out of 5 with 22 reviews

$110 oil change. Has a few regular Sprinter customers.

This is the Yelp page that I search on. You can keep going down the list and call more shops if you like. If you do so and find more promising Sprinter shops, please list them on this forum:

Where did you end up going? And how did it turn out? I just acquired a 2005 Airstream Interstate and will eventually need a good mechanic in SBay.
thanks!

I second that, who did you find, and good times??? I'm all the way up in Chico, but with lots of pals in Marin it's a logical destination for me. looking into injector seal, and finding my damn exhaust leak (on and off smell, might be the black death?). as well as servicing a 300k 06 2500. (I've done the obvious services). thx, Matt
