Default Wiring in a rear back up camera (power wire)

Hello Everyone

Recently installed a wireless back up camera for our 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500.

Monitor plugs into the 12vt outlet and communicates with the camera via wireless connection.

The camera wire is ran from the license plate and into the van via the wire run from the door to the body.

I am now looking to splice the power wire into the current wiring harness. (Will ground the negative to the chassis)

Id like to wire it to the driving lights so that when I turn on the exterior lightin the back up camera turns on (rather than wiring it to the reverse light)

Can anyone point to me which wire i should be tapping into?

I would also love to know which one is the reverse light in the event that that is my best option.

Thank you in advance for your help!

So, are you only want the camera on when your headlights are on? Otherwise, there Are three power taps under your driver seat; One is constant on, the other two are powered when the alternator is on. Seems like those would be a better place to tap power from, and that is what they are designed to do and therefore.

Do a quick search for EK1 on the forum, and you will bring up a picture.

Cheers,
Greg

What's available under a little flip-lid under the driver's seat:

But admittedly, that's miles away from where your camera is.

These 2007 wiring diagrams may help, be aware that tapping into the tail light circuit can cause the Sprinter to thing your bulbs are sick.

http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/0...inter-2500.pdf <-- 3rd party (sometimes more understandable)

You want the "rear exterior lighting" sections.
