Default Two stage sliding door function?

Could someone tell me how the two stage sliding door functions. I bought my van off the lot and the option was not on it, I was wondering if its worth the upgrade. Looks like Dave Orton has posted the part #'s in a other post. Thanks in advance

The intermediate door stop stops the door at a 34" opening. There is a spring loaded plastic roller that protrudes into the upper rail which stops the door upper roller. If you want to open the door fully, pushing to open the door fully depresses the roller to let the door pass. There is a spring box that mounts above the door on the inside. It measures about 3 x 3 x 6 inches.

Thanks Dave, you have been very helpful for me on this forum and it is appreciated.Do you feel like it was worth it after you added the parts to your van?

I do use the half way open door most of the time instead of the full opening. Would have been much smarter to have included it in the original order for about $25.00. Somehow I missed that option. Is it worth the cost to retrofit? For me it was worth the cost.

I also use it and like it. I only bought the one part that does the work and cut the opening. I didn't bother with the cover or whatever other part that is listed.

Just the stop itself. Instead of buying a new rail I just cut the slot in the existing rail without removing it. I think by drilling and filing. If I recall, you can see the slot in the body metal from the inside, about mid door inside of the door rail. Just aft of the light. I think you will see the thin foam backing of the rail in the slot. The intermediate stop is just a spring loaded roller that protrudes into the path of the upper door roller. I just had the dealer buy and install the parts. Now that I know what the parts look like, I can see that all you need to buy is the stop. How difficult was it to cut the access hole for the roller? Mine is now buried inside a wood enclosure. I discarded the cover. I do not recall how the assembly was bolted to the Sprinter. Are there existing threaded mounting holes or holes for bolts?

The stop uses two existing studs of the top door rail. There is a slot in the body for the stop roller. So I just drilled from the inside using the slot in the body as a guide. The rail is a soft metal, easy drilling, maybe aluminum but I don't recall.
