Before I drop the tank, does anyone have an idea of how much clearance there is between the top of the fuel tank and the floor? I'm bolting a seat to the floor so with the plate and bolt head I probably would be safe with 5/8 to 3/4 of an inch of clearance.
If there isn't that much room I'll probably have to build some type of bracket for the seat base to bolt so that I can extend the point where it bolts through the floor further to the driver's side past the tank. I have a feeling that might be what the pros do as I seem to remember the seat base on that side in a sherrod van being bolted to a larger plate.
