Default turn signals not working

i have a 03 dodge freightliner sprinter, the turn signals stopped working a few weeks ago, then started the next day, then yesterday and still today they do not work, just a buzzing sound under the dash, can you guys give me some advice as to what it may be?

My guess would be a bad turn signal relay. You should also check fuses 6 and 9 in fuse block 1.

Start with exactly what Mendosy said and if that doesn't work than you will have to look a bit deeper such as the assembly the wipers and signal and cruise all go into. Thats what my problem was all the crap falls into that space through the hazard light hole and getting that assembly all full of junk. There is also a post somewhere about the fuse box needing a solder repair that if it happens can gives your symptoms.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Figured it was a bad turn signal relay.
When I got to the relay in the fuse area under the steering wheel, I noticed it had popped out just enough to be disconnected.
I just pushed it back in and it has worked no problem since. Hopefully that's all you'll have to do.

It is in fuse block #1 under the dash. Here is a link to the maps for the fuse blocks.

Had the same problem, the flasher was bad and replaced it and all was good with the world again. It is located at the bottom side of the fusebox under the steering wheel ( closest to the firewall ). The flasher relay is one of a couple of relays that are all small and rectangular and located just below the fuses.its a cheap fix unlike most fixes on the Sprinters.

I think the one you're referring to beside it is the Engine Control Relay. If you swap out the relays and then your turn signal works, but your engine doesn't start... you've definitely isolated down the problem.

Just kidding.

Swapping the relays is a good method. Keep in mind that in swapping them it may re-establish (heal) poor connections in the fuse block #1 relay connector stabs so the "questionable" relay may still be OK.

There have been quite a few postings about the Fuse Block #1 connection methods getting loose from piggy-back fuses, wearing out, etc. The poor solder connection issues seem less prevalent, but worth checking closely. Given the rather large dimensions and open design of the Fuse Block #1 circuit traces, repair to bad solder joints should be a fairly straight-forward process. vic

As always this Sprinter forum saves the day. Just one question about turn signal relay...easy fix except no one in St. louis stocks the part...I have no turn signals until the part comes in. Auto Zone rep suggested " exchange it with the hazard light relay since your hazard lights are working." I tried to locate a seperate but identical hazard relay to no success. Is it the same relay? If so why did my turn signals quit and my hazards remain working? Thanks for your helpful contributions to the Sprinter-Source forum.
