Default Was the 2016 View 24J prewired for solar?

Two brand new 224ah 6volt AGMs just don't last long enough when boondocking. I'd like to install roof mount solar panels to give the batteries a bit more life. Was the 2016 View 24J pre-wired for solar?

Thank you.

Hey psd, I have a '17 Navion J, and I installed a 300 watt solar system on mine. I did not see any pre-wiring that was done at the factory. I am sure there was no entry point, nor existing solar cabling in place on the roof. I placed my charge controller on the back wall of the large compartment (close to the batteries) just aft of the entry door, and installed a remote monitor above the fridge next to the other electronics. You can run most of your cabling behind the fridge in the vent cavity, being careful to avoid high heat areas & up through the roof there as well. From the compartment where I placed the charge controller, you can go up and then under the lower cabinet drawers and into the fridge vent cavity as well. There are many roof entry 'flashings' out there--Amazon is one place to find them.

All I have to add is the cable entry method. My 2018 came with solar but I helped a friend install solar on his Sprinter van and used this for the cable entry from the roof.

I highly recommend it. I also recommend MC4 cable connectors.

Yep, that is the one I used as well. It worked great, just be sure to use the proper self leveling caulk to finish the final sealing. I ordered the exact sealant and color of the existing sealant used by Winnebago--ordered it from Lichtsinn RV in Forest River. They had it in stock.

2016J may or may not have been pre-wired. If Serial number has a "U2" in the middle - pre-wired, like all the 2017s and 2018s. Being prewired really doesn't get much. Behind one of the control panel wooden blocks, you'll find sets of wires. One set goes to roof (but not marked on roof where it is below skin), the other set goes to the chassis electrical box. Probably just as easy to run all new wires.
