Default Fixing Rust Under Rear Step

Seems only around the inside half of the underneath step where the drain holes are. MB did a half arse metal protection job compared to the rest of the underfloor steel, to me its just a coat of black paint.

Using one of those 6 inch x 1 inch LED lights with magnets on the back to show the problem areas.

Will do the scrap off, rust convert, KBS Coating, primer and top coats, but its a challenge with the towbar underneath the step.

Have a Metal box mounted above the step(with mounting bars also under/supporting the step making the job that much harder), so cannot see what is under the rubber step covering ( Maybe I don't want to know)

After wire brushing and applying rust converter, may I suggest using a couple of coats of killrust or hammerite.

A quick google search found these products.

Below is a list of the best rust prevention sprays and paints that tackle rust and ensure that it is protected against salt and other elements.
POR-15 45404 Rust Prevention Paint.
KBS Coatings 4401 Rust Seal.
Waxoyl Rust Inhibitor Spray.
Rust-Oleum Stops Anti Rust Spray Paint.
3M 03584 Rubberized Undercoating.

Thanks, Have used "KBS Coatings 4401 Rust Seal" B4 and will use it here, Just don't want to get any on my face/hair as its an awkward job have also to dodge: the Trailer Plug Cable, Anderson Plug Cable and the supports for the Sat dish along with items mentioned above.

OF course I wear gloves and a cap and glasses.

KBS the Black Stuff....( but prefer grey, not in stock)
With cream on my face, gloves, cap and glasses no spills, took the disposable gloves off and did not realise until sometime later that I had black marks on my wrist (from glove removal) used the special thinners (has no water unlike regular thinners, I am told) got some off, hopefully the rest will wear off in time. Girl who sold me the KBS said she got some on her leg, took 5 weeks to wear off, glad it was winter so she could wear jeans.
