To put a number on it.
I'll conjecture that to assists a stranger in the middle of nowhere on the road will be straight up fine ..... 95% of the time.

Bob can you reveal the OP two girls you stopped and helped, did it turn out in a good satisfactory way?

That's about the same odds they gave me about Lasix surgery. When told about potential downside, I took a pass. That was 25 years ago. I made the correct decision.

Interesting contributions. I don't know how it ended up for the girls, but it ended safe for me.

My course of action or
More accurately non-action:

As I rolled by and having only maybe two seconds max to assess the situation, I determine the girls did not appear in any eminent danger or injured, and were not screaming or yelling help. As a result, I continued on. There are stretches along 101 where cell phone signals are sketchy and could not call 911. Payphone's are a relic of the past. Besides, I didn't know exactly where the hell I was. Something people should always be aware.

Anyway, Hindsight is 2020. I could've stopped several hundred feet and inquired if everything was OK, but I didn't. In the end, it's better to be safe than sorry.

All the training in the world Will never defend from an ambush. Humans focus of attention is very narrow, a vulnerability exploited by pickpockets. Focus on the girls and you could be attacked from behind.

In addition to picking locks, picking pockets has always been a hobby, but I only do it as entertainment on acquaintances and certainly not an expert. Try it sometime, especially on youngsters using money as a focal point and you will be amazed. I digress.

Throughout my life, circumstances permitting, helped many people.

Most recently, a Hispanic lady and her son open their locked car.
She offered me money and I took it, but promptly gave it to her son.

Signed,
The damn Evil White Cracker.
