At the risk of being misinterpreted, in my opinion this forum has always been quite open as to accepting different members and their opinions. In the general sections of the forum there is a generally polite tone that as a member I feel is worth attempting to maintain. (That is as a member, not as an amateur moderator.)

For the first time that I'm aware of, we had a member that even after many attempts to get him to change direction, continued to be aggressive and not even try to treat others in a civil manner.

Contrary to the policies of some other forums, banning a member is not taken lightly here. The decision to ban someone was not, and will not be arbitrary, but even a liberal forum has limits.

I believe that I've said all that I should about this.

Carry on.

As a moderator myself on another enthusiast site, I don't think you owe us any further explanation. Whatever happened, happened. I'm not a regular here and don't really know what was being discussed and referred to. Just making a general statement. It's not easy being a mod at times, and doing what is best for the forum.
