Default Fuel moisture sensor help

2007 Sprinter. I tried to remove my fuel moisture sensor for an oil change.
https://europarts-sd.com/sensor-fuel...e2004-2009.asp

I could not lift it out of the filter. Any ideas? Sorry for the post but I have not seen this addressed.

If not removed periodically it can get seized in place.

I presume the design as like my 2004/2006. Are you changing out the filter? On the 2004 for the first time change I ended up bending the metal tabs out of the way to allow me to work the sensor back and forth a bit.

A spritz/soak with WD40 may help and won't hurt anything.

Be careful with the plastic bits.
