Question Purchase advise please

Hi, I plan to purchase a Sprinter and found some options..

1) 80-90k miles 2011-2012
2) 150-180k miles 2014-2015

Would you recommend less miles but older or more miles and younger?

Also, any key differences between these model years? What should I pay attention to when checking them out?

Thank you.

You sure you want to join the Snooty Mercedes society?

Go with the newest model you can afford that has the most time remaining on the federally mandated emission warranty because, odds are, it will be needed. Whatever you buy, ensure emission components have been updated.

Be aware, European vehicles, particularly Sprinter's, are difficult to diagnose and expensive to repair. Competent and ethical repair facilities scarce and usually inconveniently located. Earmark a pile of money for expensive repairs.

IMHO, I would avoid diesel, emissions controls too complicated, unreliable and expensive to repair. Certainly beyond the abilities of a DIYer.

Have you considered a NV 2500 gasser?

Good luck.

Oh a new street vendor van--The Nissan "NV" = NV Nissan Van
Not any old Latino roach coach seen in anytown USA but rather something more sophisticated al la Italiana . eco bravo

Gelati , panini , uno macchiato
You will probably need a macchiato when looking at your monthly fuel bill!
Dennis

For Bob who doesn't speak Italian--its foreign--Euro --A bad influence !
A macchiato is an espresso with a dash of steamed milk. An Americano is an espresso with added hot water making for a slightly longer drink.

Not going to sit here and say that a Sprinter is a bed of roses, but Nissans are trash.

Well, never had any need to speak Italian, and don't drink overpriced, yuppie, foo foo schit, I simply drink French dark roast, black in a MAGA mug.

Any fuel savings realized from operating a Sprinter will be WIPED-OUT plus more by the first major (emission) repair expenditure.

It's a rebadged Renault

The market here is different, but me. I'd go for the youngest and don't get too hung up on the mileage. It's perfectly normal to see Sprinters, abused from day 1 with 4, 5, 600k miles on them.
Condition, usage, and history. Mileage a distant 4th

The North American Nissan NV depicted in Bob's post above, is not a Renault at all.

The North American Nissan NV is an American-built vehicle based on the full-sized Nissan pickup platform.

The European market NV400 (a completely different vehicle) is a rebadged Renault Master.

Nissans are great! Especially my Nissan Leaf, The only maintenance that I've performed in six years is put air in the tire and replace the chassis battery, similar to starter battery. Not the traction battery. Apparently, from what I can glean, The chassis battery only charges when the vehicle is moving or sitting in da sun, and NOT while traction battery is being charged.

Although the traction battery is getting kind of tired, it's still transports my humongous, gelatinous gluteus maximus around town quite comfortably and with more head and leg room than a Prius.
