Default Fixed gray water leak

We had a small leak in the gray water valve. Replacement was easy, we ordered the valve kit:Valterra TC172 Flexible Cable Kit - 72" with 1-1/2" Valve

It would most likely have been sufficient to just replace the seals (Valterra Black 1-1/2 Inch T1001-9Vp Bladex Waste Valve Seals-1.5) but considering that the handle was getting harder and harder to push and the labor involved to take it apart we preferred to spend a couple of bucks more and be done with it.

We also replaced the two clamps (first picture) holding the big black plastic pipe because the screws were totally rusted through. Replacement part bought on ebay was:
NVENT CADDY 454017 EZ-Riser Superfix Cushioned Pipe Clamp,Size 4 In

The most interesting part was the "hack" they did to attach the 1 1/2" spigot to the pipe coming from the tank (second picture).

It is a NIBCO, I026900 5803-2-SW Spigot x Female NPT Thread Adapter. But they did not or could not find a gasket that would fit. So when we opened ours you could see that the gasket, being too small, was moved off center when they tightened the spigot and was deformed which meant we couldn't reuse it. With enough plumbers putty and luck the original assembly did not leak. We used a similar gasket as the original (1 3/4"OD. x 1 1/2" I.D. x 3/16h slip joint washer 36651 B) and ours, after tightening leaked - I guess we moved it off center.

The only gasket, at our local hardware store, that was close enough in size was a Tip Toe Gasket 37680 B (used for tubs). Which we had to cut down a little bit in size but worked like a charm and hasn't been leaking so far.
