Default Need some ideas

Need some ideas from the group.
I removed the seats from my van yesterday. No issue there.

I am left with this extra spare wheel cover thing that the rocket scientists who fitted thought would be a good idea to use sikaflex to adhere it to the nice vinyl covered wood floor.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove it without destroying the floor ?

Why they didnít just screw into the wood floor is beyond me.

Any ideas appreciated.

Heat it to 100c, then use a piano wire to cut the sealant. It's gonna be a workout though.

It looks like it might have a few rivets in it? Could just be nails. The hotter it is, the easier it will cut. Sometimes a sawing action will do it, Sometimes pulling with a bit of silicone lubricant can help.

Looking at the picture you provided,I would drill out all the top rivets and remove the top cover.
Use a blade knife around the edge of the where the metal meets the floor, use a pry bar and gently lift the base from the floor, until you can remove the nails.

A sharpened scraper may help . If the blade knife doesnt go in far enough. You might have to use a hammer. Make sure any mechanical fixings (screws rivets etc) are removed 1st

So I managed to get the stupid wheel box out yesterday. Used the Garrot method. Twisted up some wire. Wife on end me on the other.

Took some doing but we finally got it.

A Little damage to the floor but I can repair that.
