Default Seat Belt Receiver Fix

Seatbelt latch broken stuck

The one seat belt receiver in the OEM back seat of the 2006 has become problematic for latching the seat belt buckle. The buckle inserts fine but it won't "grab". Pulling up on the surrounding plastic housing gets the buckle to insert and latch in. It's fine that we can get it to work, but I'm concerned that further use and wear may eventually cause that "fix" to no longer work.

Enter the seat belt "extender" 2 per pack.

I purchased this from Amazon.

Widewing 2pcs Universal Car Seat Belt Clip Extenders Safety Seatbelt Buckle Plugs

The "extender" plugged right into the OEM receiver and accepts the seat belt buckle. Any concerns about further wear are now transferred to the aftermarket extender receiver.

The extender does stick up proud from the seat so it may be a problem as people slide into position. Time will tell for that. The wonky 2006 receiver is over on the driver side seat position so that helps.

I tested the extender in a B series Dodge bench seat belt and it fits there also.

An observation.
I believe that the real purpose for these too short "extenders" is for people that hate seal belts to use them to defeat the seat belt reminder dash warning/chime. I find that use a bit disturbing, but that is not what I'm using it for.
