Airbag recalls have been in the works for some time. Here is link to thread on topic in the NCV3 Database. This is the infamous Takata air bag issue.
Good luck on getting parts.

There is also a thread on this topic over on the B-van forum.

Supposedly it affect many brands of vehicles not just Sprinters, so it might take years before they actually get yours done.

Funny, something that was supposed to make your vehicle safer?

Other manufactures are supplying a free loaner vehicle if they can supply parts.

the takata recall has been rolling along in one form or fashion since 2008, and Honda (probably the hardest hit manufacturer) just added a bunch of newer vehicles to the seemingly never ending list.

I highly suggest you get the work done (a person in texas was just killed by their civic), so keep on your dealer's tail about it. If you got a notice last summer, the parts should be available by now. if they aren't, yet, see about getting a rental. Honda's got thousands of customers in rental cars since the expansion came out last month.

if you can't get a rental, see if you can get the dealer to at least disconnect the affected inflators. this is not something to screw around with.

I fear I may not live long enough, even without any accidents to expedite my departure, to see my replacement airbag...

I may have to make do with the one that usually sits there, may she never discover this post.

For RV owners, like me with my 2009 Navion, how would I pursue replacement? Who would be my contact, Itasca, Dodge or MB?

The manufacture that sold the unit.......Dodge for example.......or call MB and make a stink and see what happens. MB ultimately would be the target if there was a problem or an injury claim.

If you have a 2008 or 2009 Dodge Sprinter based RV the recall is the responsibility of Chrysler; now FCA. Mercedes will just refer you back to FCA.

Here is link to the latest info from NHTSA:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/...tsa_ids=16V077

Key details:
REMEDY:Daimler Vans will notify the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner owners and Fiat Chrysler will notify the Dodge owners. The respective dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on April 11, 2016. Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner owners may contact Daimler Van's customer service at 1-877-762-8267. Dodge owners may contact Fiat Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
