Default CR Laurence Egress Window

Picking up a 2019 Sprinter 170 next week and going to start to convert it myself. Has anyone installed a CR Laurence egress window in their van, and are you able to open and close it repeatedly or is it like a bus window where the weatherstripping all falls out with it? I called a few places and got differing answers. We were hoping to be able to prop it open and get some nice airflow. Thanks!

I just replaced my t window with the egress on my 2018 so I’ll be interested to see what the comments are.

I have an egress window because that is the only window the conversion shop had while the van was in his shop 300 miles from my home. Didn't make any difference to me but I was told not to open it unless it was an emergency. I was left with the feeling it didn't have hinges and would just fall out. I haven't tried it so I guess we need to keep inquiring.

The factory egress just pops out when you pull the seal off. It isn't designed for repeated use...just emergencies.

It may not be designed for it, but I’ve been using the emergency exit window on my 2017 as a vent for several years now. Gives great ventilation when propped open a few inches. I’m gentle with it and so far so good.

Did you get CRL brand egress window or a factory one?

I talked to CRL and a few sellers and getting a clear answer is like pulling teeth, but it sounds like it should open and re-latch and seal without issue. I think I might just have to order one and see.

Sounds like they don't want warranty issues so they just say don't open it.
