Default Diesel V6 OM-642 engine for rebuild in OR (PDX)

Hi!, I have a 2010 2500 Sprinter engine (V6, 3L) with 160,000 miles on it that runs, but has a knock. Mechanic thinks it needs a new crankshaft...engine was run without oil in it (a leak situation).

I have obtained a new engine for my vehicle but am looking for someone interested to buy the old core from me, to rebuild.

Let me know if you're interested!! I'm located in Portland, OR.

Appending two photos of the engine plus a copy of a shop work order that includes a diagnosis of the problem. If anyone is interested, let me know!,

Nicole,

Sorry to hear of the loss of your original engine but I have a question, who performed the 'recent LOF'?

The diagnosis of 'Possible oil cap o-ring bad' was more likely that the o-ring had been positioned in the incorrect groove in the oil filter cap. Has this been removed and checked?

Keith.

Thanks for your message, Keith!!

Alas I'm the guilty party!, as I did the LOF :( I applied my experience in changing out oil on other vehicles and did not switch out the small o-ring, and I was thinking that this was what I did wrong....but maybe it was indeed incorrect placement of the large o-ring, which I placed in the same groove as the old one had been in. Ah well, (expensive) lesson learned!....and this brings me into the Sprinter family, as the van belonged to my friend and I subsequently purchased it from him on the "break it you buy it" principle!

The mechanics who did the engine switch-out have told me its worth $1k on the low end and $2k on the high end. Let me know if interested!, and where you're located?
