Yes Mexico is OPEN for business.

Recently we needed parts for a customer's Bering Hyundai medium duty truck.
With no parts available except for Mexico we simply picked the phone up and started calling.

Apart from some South American Ven tech terminology with the Mexican parts man accustomed to Mexican terminology (pastillos de freinos--Ballatas Y Estoperas--Sellos) we found the parts in about 45 minutes at a dealer in Mexico City .

In a few weeks I will be in Tulum and take a day off to fly to Mexico City, buy the hubs/discs etc and cart them over to a freight forwarder & have them box it up and get it shipped via Fed Ex to Denver.
I now have a new parts supplier for OBSOLETE Hyundai TRUCKS
Oh so easy!
OR as they say in Caracas--Es hamon Senor!

My friend here needed pistons for a Volvo diesel boat motor and he found them in Bolivia for 1/3 the cost of buying them in the states. They were here in 6 days and there was no duty on them.

Yes that wouldn't surprise me at all!

With the internet and phones plus some perseverance you can find a lot of obsolete parts.
Again only recently for a Landrover Defender 200 tdi diesel, I found an obsolete thermostat housing (supposed to be unavailable ) in Dubai of all places.
Cheers Dennis

Anything Hi End Luxury exotic shouldn't be too hard to find in Dubai.

Good Evening Dennis, not sure if you'll see this post in time but I found a guy out in Aurora that just opened up a new body shop near 6th and Airport that is going to pull some dents, fix some rust and paint a few panels/front door. Can you recommend a place in town that has a good deal on Dupont Imron? We may end up just shooting the door and leaving rest of the van primed and ready for Mexico.

Having a hard time believing that price included paint? I've been pricing paint locally around town and the good quality paint is expensive. Here is a quote from Finish Master: Imron Elite single stage commercial $581.80 a gallon + hardener $221.09 quart + Imron Elite Clearcoat $290.05. Imron Excell Pro basecoat/clear $292.17 gallon $108.77 hardener . Single Stage $292.17 $108.77 qt hardener. Imron Excell Pro Clearcoat for 1 stage or 2 stage gallon $361.02.

Depending on what line of Imron they used half to 3/4 of the $1200 would go to materials!
