Ben clear your cookies and old internet files. and re log into Sprinter-Source.com
reset password click remember and you should be OK you may have to do this two or three times.
PS the forum goes off line at times for a tad up to an hour
If your timing out ,it';s the U.S Host.

When does this happen? If it does, it shouldn't and I need to know.

The forum may be slow a bit everyday at 1:10am PST due to a database backup that should run no more than 10 minutes. Also, it can be dangerous posting at this time as it can get lost during the backup process.

Dangerous to whom!
I have said this before the forum times out or refuses to connect up to an hour, most normally 15 minutes, if I get caught in the thread, then I'm stuck and have to crash the computer. The times outs rage from AEST 6pm to 2 am morning midday to 2 pm short blips this indicates the traffic at your end can not handle the load, either its your host server provider or your actual IP provider.

As Ben said it does not occur elsewhere.

Whenever this occurs, can you do me a favor and do a screen print of the bottom right hand corner of the thread like this...

I can't remember ever hitting the forum in a "down" state...
any time-outs have usually been -my- ISP's "fault" (evidenced by other sites being dead too).
My access times are from 7am US Pacific (1400 UTC) to 11pm (0700 UTC)

my thanks for running such a solid site

HI everyone, I've just been on to my service provider and he guided me thru a trace to try to find the problem and the trace timedout on the last stage before the sprintersource site and he sugested the problem may be due to changes to sprinter fire wall. i'm way out of my depth here .i have tried to access directly from the address bar ,my bookmark, and from googleand it times out, its been doing this since at least last thursday, help. ben

What system are you using; e.g. Apple or Windows?

For instance, at the Windows Command Prompt, type...

tracert 66.220.15.121

...hit return and it will give you a list of servers, and their propagation delays, before hitting Sprinter-Source.com. This will give you at least some information on what gateway is causing the hang up. Please copy paste the info here. I see that both you and Richard are in Australia and there might be a gateway causing the hangup as I'm not seeing it on my end.

The servers are only geographically a 45 minute drive from where I'm sitting, so I don't see what you're seeing.

This is what I see...
Quote:
C:\Users\seek>tracert 66.220.15.121

Tracing route to sprinter-source.com [66.220.15.121]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 2 ms 1 ms home [192.168.1.254]
2 49 ms 46 ms 46 ms adsl-99-58-31-254.dsl.pltn13.sbcglobal.net [99.58.31.254]
3 48 ms 46 ms 49 ms 76.246.22.129
4 47 ms 49 ms 46 ms bb2-10g2-0.pltnca.sbcglobal.net [151.164.42.102]
5 52 ms 48 ms 49 ms ppp-151-164-52-237.rcsntx.swbell.net [151.164.52.237]
6 48 ms 50 ms 49 ms asn6398-bellsouth.pxpaca.sbcglobal.net [151.164.248.234]
7 50 ms 48 ms 49 ms 10gigabitethernet1-2.core1.fmt1.he.net [66.160.158.241]
8 48 ms 50 ms 48 ms sprinter-source.com [66.220.15.121]

Trace complete.

C:\Users\seek>
In addition, does your internet provider have a ban list to sprinter-source.com's IP address (66.220.15.121). The ban list could be happening on the server side too, so it will help what IP address you are using at the time of the hang up.

Other questions are: where are you (nearest city will do) and who is your provider?

Some providers use "dynamic addressing" for some of their own Domain Name Servers... and some other sites (and sprinter-forum's host may be one) refuse connections when they see that dynamic nature when they try to back-check where you claim you're from.
(i apologize for that convoluted sentence, but that "protection" keeps one of Australia's largest ISPs' (optusnet) customers from being able to browse some otherwise easily accesible sites here in the US... and the US sites are Mac-based)
..and the symptoms are the same... timeout when the tracert hits (in that case) www.weasner.com

You can also see if -your- domain is on some blacklist. Two sites which let you check this are:
http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticp...ss-blacklisted
and
http://www.dnsbl.info/
..they will both automatically fill in your address (as they sense it), and you can just click the "Check" buttons for a ruling.

good luck

Currently running Telstra no black listings on this forum .
however time outs are somewhat frequent in part when on idle,That's fine.
Connecting at various times to Hurricane is the problem as to an auto time out.
due to diversion of traffic outages speed variations at the U.S end Ip 66 220 15 121
ISP Hurricane 108.3 KBs
The server on the US side is taking to long to respond, Telstra B/Band response time outs at 866 Kbps
Ping is inconstant as to traffic diversion in peak periods on the N/A side. via Hurricane as it's a shared server.
I just live with it.
And It's only on this forum.
