Default Sprinter 3500 MH felt like transmission was slipping

We just got back from a 8,000 mile road trip and the Sprinter was FLAWLESS, except for one time... we pulled into a fairly small town and of course was driving at slower speeds. When I'd go to take off from a light or stop sign, the engine would get louder but I wasn't going anywhere and then suddenly it was like it "caught" and I'd go. It did this for about 5 minutes until I pulled over, let it sit while we went in to eat, came back out and it never did it again???

Anyone have this before or have an idea what it did, AND, should we be worried?????

This can happen when the transmission fluid level is 1/2 qt too low. especially when stopped on an incline. check fluid level

If it's that low you need to find out where it's leaking. So I'd head to a shop ASAP.

*** There's also the horrid "floating mass of debris" that clogs the filter when you get in certain positions, then when you kill the vehicle the debris may fall to the bottom of the pan and then not stop you again until it moves around to where the filter sucks it up again. This happened to my T1N vehicle which has early transmission failure if using it for heavily loaded vehicles (such as motor home use).

*** A better transmission was installed in models 2007 and later who no longer experience the early failures some older vehicle owners have had to deal with.
