The Engine That Powers the World - Diesel Engine Documentary

If you have an hour, I found this Youtube video worthwhile. It's not just about Mercedes or cars. There's some history about how the fuel injection systems evolved.

Cool documentary, thanks for posting. Not sure what the future of diesel may be but I'm glad I had the chance to have one. Not only do I like the driving experience of the diesel, I figured for every 50,000 miles I drive I save a little over $4,000 in fuel costs compared to a gas van.

Thanks for that, Vic. Well produced. That Deltic engine was truly amazing.

Conspicuous by its absence, for me at least, was any mention of the GM two-stroke diesel.

The howl of a 6-71 powering a tugboat on the Pacific Coast of Canada was accompaniment to my earliest days at work.

I recall a Chief would remark about the boat diesels at idle. "Hear that. It's sayin' meat and potatoes, meat and potatoes, meat and potatoes. That's an engine that will do work."
