After a brief review of the body builders manual I don't think I need the forum any more...

Richard there is a whole section on axels.

Thanks tom Have not found the axle bit as of yet, however this was what I was trying to explain as to a possible one thousand options for a Sprinter for configuration
MB has it down to the last nut and bolt a brilliant company for diversifying products ranges and options etc. Now if Chrysler showed a PDF like that and trained the staff to understand the sprinters sales would triple for the US
Different markets for export The US is a large and important sector for Daimler AG it always was for the Sprinters
Where it failed was in management which had two heads + conflict between the two divisions DCX and Daimler.
Australia has all options for engines and trans and bodies bar the crew cab for the sprinter, that's because of the Vito was preferred to have it, as it's a faster seller in the 1.5 to two ton class. The US market was limited to less body options less engine options and no options for Trans or diff specs etc, you were given the options for the add on toys.
Totally different to the fifty's and sixty's when a customer went into the show room and was given a build sheet to build a vehicle to his or hers specs. I'm a die hard Ford nut for Falcons Comets and fairlane= Victoria, and with the the ford Falcon you had four axle ratios to choose from four trans options, and 4 engines to match to each component where the diff was with a total of 12 speedo cogs at the rear diff and the trans to map the correct calibration for speed read outs, that was so simple , to work out back then, providing you had the dealers Bible book to code it all up Which I have
Who said we don't need the forum ,You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it ,of course a horse is a horse [HP] it's not beyond the race, but your in the race to the winning gate if the horse has the right legs to run with.
