Yemmy was ready at lunchtime with the pump fitted with new O rings etc and no more leaks. The bill was for hundreds of dollars and not the much greater price if I'd had a new pump fitted. I have a gearbox problem that sometimes causes it to go into LHM but a short stop with ignition off and it's Ok for many kms. I'm heading home in the morning - just 500km left to do.

An interesting trip home! After getting through Adelaide's morning rush hour Yemmy decided to behave beautifully until near the SA/Vic border he wouldn't go any faster than 95 k/ph. I thought it was going to be a slow trip home but after stopping and checking for turbo hose leaks (it happened with a spit turbo hose once) I closed the bonnet and started up. It ran perfectly from there all the way home. Owner I need your code finding expertise - when are you at Eric's next?

We are road tripping to Adelaide this week. Will be at Erics Thursday week. Eric is OK at using the Star diag machine, hes just a bit impatient with it you know how young fullas are these days.

Re ( pump fitted with new O rings)
Do these come in a kit and is it something you can do yourself.

Reason why I ask is that I have replaced my hi pressure pump in the past with a reconditioned one ( from memory around $700), and all good, am prepared to tighten up the 3 bolts as per owners comment if problems occur again, not sure if I do not service the Pump with the O rings/gaskets correctly its probably not worth saving say $550 if we have probs away from home.

I'd forgotten that Eric is a youngster! I'll be visiting him next week so I'll see how he goes with my set of peculiar problems. It's a bit weird how stopping and restarting seems to cure Yemmy's tricks for a while.

Peter - the 'O' rings were separate - he got two from MB Adelaide and the other two came from Melbourne. I didn't see the pump stripped to know what else was needed and the invoice didn't list the parts.

Hey Lionel,
You cannot afford to get rid of your Sprinter, otherwise your stories will dry up...................

https://www.gorv.com.au/murphy-strikes-again/

and if you ever try to sell it suggest your change its name from yemmy to Yummy as yemmy's repair record may go against getting a fair price.
