A picture would be great, but tell us more about your "ugly fuel".

Where is the picture located? The URL tag in your post is incomplete. If you tell us where it is, I'm sure we can help you get it posted to the forum.

Uploading a picture from your computer is pretty easy, as it linking to a picture that's already on the web somewhere. I've never been able to get a photo directly from my phone to this forum. If that's your situation, you might need to post it to a photo sharing first and then link it from there.

The picture I was attempting to post...was one showing the accumulated (and hidden?) build-up of 'oily dirty crud' that tends to stick to the underside of many types of Diesel Fuel Nozzles. Crud, that if not regularly cleaned off by the station staff... could possibly fall into your delicate tank when fuelling up. Rob

Yes, happened recently on a trip. I exclusively purchase fuel from Cheveron, However, I stopped at an ARCO. The Station was a mess, spilled diesel on the ground, nozzle and hose grimy, trash can full, no windshield water or paper towels, restroom disgusting and couldn't get the pump to function and left. I always wipe the nozzle prior to filing.

Around here... the old Owner Operator Gas Stations have disappeared and they have been replaced by Company Stations that tend to use 'Contracted' minimum wage? and minimum numbers of staff. in this case, the staff's main job appears to be manning the cash register, then selling coffee, cigarettes and lottery tickets.
Vehicle fuel is now completely Self-Serve...Keeping the pump stations clean and tidy isn't a common priority any more.. Understandably, a lone staff member can't leave the Cash Register Area for any reason.
For what it's worth... After I brought this picture to the attention of this Station....from then on...ALL the pump's handles and nozzles have been wiped cleaned weekly.
Washrooms? Agh!! ...thats another story!
