Default 2005 - Boston

Greetings to all, been doing research the last week here.

Just purchased a well-maintened 118” standard roof van. 146,000 miles and well maintained by a Porsche mechanic who seemed very “up” on problem areas and addressed thrm. One rusty spot but corrosion elsewhere is much less than expected.

In the next month or so I’m going to want all the fluids changed: engine, transmission, differential, brakes, etc. Do I need to go to a specialist garage? Or can any competent shop tackle that? We are in Boston proper.

Well a Mercedes dealer sell parts etc for a Dodge-branded 2005? Not even sure where the nearest Dodge dealer even is.

Well, it was listed as a 2005 turns out it’s a 2006.

Bringing it in for mechanical services to tomorrow. Replacing all fluids, checking suspension et

Run your VIN through one of these websites and you will get build dates and full spec for your Sprinter as it came off the line...

Here’s a “duh” question. There is a light in the headliner, and two on the sides in the cargo bay. They have three switch settings: off, on, and on with door. But all three light up with “On with door” even though all the doors are closed!

Presumably the front works withthe front doors. Do the back lights work with both the slider and rear doors?

Shapin’ up! All the body panels have been welded in, primed ready for paint. They pulled the windshield today to clean up that area.

Full service manual here: http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/2006-VA-SM.pdf
(and lots of other stuff at that site: http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/ )

The "interior lights on" speak of either a loose wire causing the brown-with-white-stripe to be touching frame metal,
*or* one of the "rubber booties" on the door-sensing buttons to have worn through (making that button think the door ain't closed)
Look for the buttons near the bottom of the B pillar, and on the D pillars,

The lights work fine, as it turns out: they were simply shut off. I've ordered LED's to replace the bulbs.

Final laps at the body shop. Both sides are repaired and prepped. They pulled the windshield to repair any rust.
