Yup, something I often asked myself every time freezing cold Skydrol ran down me gorilla arms burning me delicate armpits. For me, mechanics was a job I just fell into and enjoyed at first but as I got older, I needed a occupational change and transitioned into the perfect job making criminal lives miserable just by simply being me.

My dear friend you just advocated a $250/hr minimum charge out rate.
OK for the public sector and public purse funded by taxpayers.
I remember that mantra in the UK with a county council in the 1970's
Definitely would not make customers happy as you suggest!
Dennis
p.s you forgot the frequent hens gathering on the clock with jug like coffee cups !!
All on the customers dime of course.

Unfortunately, that is reality of today's economic climate.

This whole American automobile cultural thing has is gotten way out of control. There should be three basic automobiles. A basic commuter like the Tata Nano or Smart car, small van and pickup. None should be able to travel faster than 60 miles an hour and get at least 60 mpg. Body styles never change. All cars painted signal green for safety and high visibility. All State requiring annual inspections. Way too many vehicles with potato skins for tires Any modifications to make the exhaust louder will result in six months suspension of drivers license 1,000 fine. All have interchangeable engine parts and other components such as doors windows etc. etc. etc. Owners required to replace car with improved automotive efficiencies.
