As Vic mentioned, clips are unneeded and a clip less cap still keeps debris out just fine.The red clips are not needed except to scare owners off to encourage a trip to the dealership. The clips aren't that expensive, but they are definitely unnecessary.

Was just watching some info today on "Right to Repair" litigation's and how powerful and financially influential corporations are not only making it next to impossible to access to repair but also suing repair facilities that do. Some interesting times we've manifested ourselves into.
