Engine Noise in 3.0L diesel

We purchased a Winniebago View (24J) with the Mercedes-Benz 3.0L diesel engine. The unit had 60,000 at purchase and now has apx 70,000 miles.....We started hearing a noise that sounded like a engine belt.....So we took it to a local shop (closest dealership is over 100 miles away) and tech says it is a vacuum or something coming from the top of the engine and not
the belt.......he had a 2nd tech verify.......He says he is not certain what it is and before tearing anything down, wanted as much info that we can gather...

If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated......or where we may obtain information.

Find an experienced Sprinter mechanic to have a look, anything else is just chasing your tail.

I am new to Sprinter ownership, but not to MB ownership. Get it to a Sprinter mechanic at the Sprinter authorized center, they will know what to look for. If the mechanic is asking you to gather as much information as possible that should throw a red flag!

Just a WAG, but IMO, from the description, the most likely culprit is the seal at the turbo inlet. Next most likely is a charge air leak in the turbo outlet plumbing.
