2011 3500 144 High roof conversion adventure rig - Vancouver CA
My skiing and mountain biking rig is up for sale. I am located in Vancouver, Canada. All prices Are in CAD. I have put approx $12000 into the conversion and $8000 into mechanical.
I purchased it 15 months ago from Mercedes Nanaimo (Vancouver island). I am selling it for two reasons, my dog just needed $15k in surgery and I am moving to Los Angeles.
The basics:
Mechanical:
The conversion
I did the conversion myself. I am not a carpenter but its solid and functional. The appliances are all top end and mostly from the marine world so bulletproof.
Issues:
This has been a great rig for me. I have had it ski touring in -15 and been comfortable.
Price
I would be looking for $32000 CAD OBO, which is $25000 US. Importing it from Canada to the states could cost you about $500.

The basics:
- 2011 3500 144" WB
- Milage: 220,000 km (137,000 miles)
Mechanical:
- BRAND NEW DPF. This is the biggest part on a 2008+ model that will more than likely fail if it has't been replaced. Installed 2 months ago to the tune of $5000 CAD
- BRAND NEW DEF water heater. This is the other big weak link in 2011 models specifically. brand new as of 2 months ago. - $1600
- All glow plugs replaced as well as glow plus module - $1000
- Brakes - 80% front and 70% rear
- AC - perfect
- tranny - all good
- Tires - Bliztek snow tires with 70% tread remaining
- Windshield is cracked
- Comes with snowchains
The conversion
I did the conversion myself. I am not a carpenter but its solid and functional. The appliances are all top end and mostly from the marine world so bulletproof.
- Heater - Webasto airtop 2000 tapped into vans fuel line (approx $1500CAD)
- Insulation - Thinsulate SM 600 throughout (including cab) (approx $700 CAD). Also reflectix on both sides on Thinsulate, but I don't think this does squat.
- Water - 50 litre Water tank ($200) pumped by 12V pump ($200) to faucet and sink ($200)
- Lighting 6 LED lights and 1 LED Strip with 3 switches (all marine equipment) $300
- Refrigeration Novakool 3000 Fridge - $1500
- Stove - Webasto X100 tapped into vans fuel line ($2000) Not many people know about this stove, so for info check here: https://www.webasto.com/int/markets...-vehicles/comfort-solutions/cooking-solution/
- Battery - Lifeline 8D 250 AH AGM (Bought 2nd hand one year old - new $1000 but I paid $300)
- Charger - Sterling Battery to battery charger 50 AMP ($450)
- Electrics - All fuses , wiring , breakers and battery monitor marine grade
- Window - CR laurence ($600)
- Ventilation - Maxxair fan + rear roof vent ($400)
- Mattress - 6 inch memory foam ($250)
- Kitchen bench Ikea butcher block
Issues:
- Windshield is cracked
- A tree branch hit above the door slider so minor, but long dent (would have to point it out to you)
- Normal half dime size rust spots on drivers side panels (4 or 5) normal for sprinters (much better than most)
This has been a great rig for me. I have had it ski touring in -15 and been comfortable.
