Default remanufactured engine needed 2006 dodge sprinter 2500 140 wb

My sprinter needs a new engine. Something with a good warranty.
My diesel mechanic tells me I will have better luck getting something from Europe than north America. I am looking for a complete inline 5 cyl 2.7l Mercedes diesel engine. Any ideas or suggested providers? A used engine with low km is a second option if it has a good warranty. Thanks

btcarpenter,
Care to tell us what is wrong with your current engine?
Shipping a used engine from Europe would be costly for sure.
Have you looked for a Chrysler/Dodge Remanufactured engine, or asked Dr. A in PA or WayneRod in Ohio if they have any OM-647 Sprinter engines that they have rebuilt?
Are you looking for a complete engine...... a short block.....or a long block?
Do a Google search on "remanufactured OM-647 engine" there seems to be lots of them available.
Hope this helps,
Roger

Seems like the crank "bearings" and further damage. My mechanic stopped diagnosing when he found iron flakes in the oil filter. Once we find a suitable replacement and can put a 2 day hold on it we will bring the van back in and analyse it further (not to waste time on the lift and incur more costs only to find the engine does need replacing) I have had two diesel mechanics tell me it does not look good. (One was a Mercedes dealership) I am a pretty good carpenter...but not a mechanic. The game plan is to see what we can find as a complete replacement vs the cost of rebuilding my engine once it is pulled and checked closer..... I have been told there might be further contamination -like the turbo- and that is why we are looking for a complete replacement. Have you ever had to deal with a similar situation?

This is a difficult search. I am not one with a lot if money to risk. I am having a hard time selecting an engine from unknown remanufactures or known remanufacturers who have let their quality and therefore name slide to mediocorville or better yet eBay boy down the street with a pressure washer oh yes, let's not forget a warranty that pretty much assures you your remanufactured engine will at least be a good enough quality to remanufacture...and to top it all off I did speak to someone who I would have trusted and he was nice enough to honestly tell mW he could not help at thus time as he is to busy fixing other peoples problem (normal when you are both good and ethical)

Waynerodd still seems to be rebuilding and installing OM612 engines in Toledo, OH: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sprinter-Fre...tQTlwg&vxp=mtr listing on eBay under wrfishing.
