Default How to clean Fantastic Vent?

Hi,
we want to clean our Fantastic Vent. The lower screen can be removed easily, but how can we clean the upper one? It looks terrible.

That's interesting, mine must be a ways older and does not have that upper screen. However, I just cleaned mine. You want to get the fan blade out of there so you can scrub it in a sink rather than pick at it overhead. It comes off the shaft easy enough with the 1 screw, but you can't remove it from the fan assembly unless you remove several more screws and drop that plate down 4-6 inches, no need to unplug any wires. Seems to me once you do this, you should have easy access to that screen. Maybe 15 minutes total cleaning time for me.

1. Upper Screen

Never seen any advertisement for a Fantastic Vent with an upper screen (only the lower screen, upgraded in 2009 with the Pop n Lock snap-in and out without screws).

Wonder if the upper screen is some custom Westfalia thing and whether a screw in or a snap in.

2. Newer Easy Removable Fan Blade in 2015

In 2015, the fan blade became easier to remove. See file below. If you have one of those, you could remove and have easier access to clean the upper screen.

I have the older hard to remove fan blade and use Chlorox Wipes to clean with fan blade.

3. Older Fan Blade

If you have the older fan blade, there are several how to clean (without upper screen). Here's one:

Both of mine 2018 only have the lower screen too.

Ours have upper screen too. I clean it with sponge one section at the time between the blades. Or clime up ladder and remove from outside. :-)

mine is from 2013. Imported by Movera (belongs to Hymer) to Germany. The lower screen is the pop-n-lock.

I'm afraid I have to try to access it from the roof, which is hard to do on the road.

Using info from Peter re Movera importer, found their website in German.

Photograph of a 7350 shows an upper screen which lools like it is screwed in from the top. Google Translate wouldn't load this website so can't tell if Movera added this upper screen or available from Fantastic Vent.

Blast it with compressed air - up and out? Maybe Zach has a compressor at westy fest East?

Peter, can you get your Dyson's nozzle to it from inside the vehicle?

I could, but it wouldn't help. The dirt is very greasy from cooking.
