On Yahoo Sprinter Westfalia group, poster looking for replacement water intake lockable cap in black. Do not know specifications but here are two European possibilities.

1. Repair. If still have cap but broken, here is a repair description from Eat Drink blog.

2. Attachment. Believe someone had posted a mod for an attachment lanyard so cap would be attached to body. Please post info if have.

3. Using Cap. When first got Westy, had the most difficult time using cap until figured out it is a two step process.

To unlock, use key only without turning cap. Once key is turned, then turn cap.

To lock, insert cap and turn clockwise until set. Then use key to lock.

No luck finding on gowesty.com. Could be poor search skills or gowesty no longer carries. Would be great if they did.

Many years ago, stopped by gowesty and asked if they might be interested in carrying our parts. Our small volume did not make it worthwhile compared to their VW Westy parts. So we get lucky if parts are interchangeable like the submersible water pump.

Just found this thread after losing my water cap this past weekend.

Was there ever any conclusion regarding a source for the replacement cap, (for my part, it doesn't need to be lockable.). Checked the various European sites and am concerned about compatibility (and shipping! :) )

I have the eBay one. The quality is not quite as high as the original one, but it is good enough and the lock works (which is why we replaced the original). Well worth it for the price.

Same dimensions...Overall diameter 71mm, Overall depth 51mm, Cap inside diameter 64mm...
but different manufacturer... PLS vs. Fawo.

Same Seller as well. The one Oldwest Cited was sold out.
