4strokemike - Owners of prior year models have done this successfully. Apparently there are captive nuts welded to the frame at the proper factory locations. All you need is another bench seat and the floor brackets with bolts. If you look carefully at the factory floor covering, you can see faint embossed outlines at the seat locations.

I think there have been write-ups about this with more details and pictures... try the search function. Good luck with your project!

If you made these seats for sale, I'm sure plenty of us would buy one from you! Amazing work.

Just an idea here... If you are heading through the Cincinnati area, you could drop your bench seat off and I would do it for you. If interested, PM me and we can work out the details.

JJolls is the man! After looking for months for a reasonably priced two seater bench, I decided that I was going to follow JJolls instructions on how to convert a three seater into a two seater... The only problem was that I had never welded before and I can barely sew a button back on a shirt. After a couple emails, I discovered that he was only about an hour drive from my house. I dropped the seat off at his house one weekend and picked it up the next. I was super impressed with the quality of his work - the seat looks near factory! The only thing that gives it away is the seam on the back of the seat where the plastic cover overlaps. But youd really never notice it unless you were looking for it.
Anyway, hes a super nice guy and I thought he deserved some props. I would highly recommend him!

Default Re: Bench seat - making a 3-seater into a 2-seater

Can any of the contributors to this thread answer a question for me? How do the "legs" attach to the bottom of these bench seats? Basically, from the factory the seats are off center with the seats favoring the driver side wall (so that you have some sort of a walkway between the seat and the sliding door). However, for the set up I have I need the opposite.

So wondering how hard, or if possible, to shift the seat towards the sliding door relative to the mounting legs.

Make sense?

thanks in advance
matt

The black vertical parts of the seat beneath the seat cushion that clip in to the silver floor mounts (the "legs") are an integral, welded part of the frame. They do not remove (short of using an angle grinder or similar).

Wondering if you could take a 4 passenger seat, turn it into a 3 passenger seat with 2 lower legs. Would it be narrower than the original 3 passenger seat? The actual seats look narrower to me on the 4 pass seat. Would be cool to still have seating for 3 just narrow seats.
