Loving your build so far! Im in OC as well building a similar concept. Im driving to Loveland CO in a couple of weeks to drop off for a top.

Definitely going to steal a couple of your unique ideas.

ORH, I'm in OC too. Let us know how your CCV top install goes. I'm slated for 7/25 and i think Slamo is right after me.
And for all the SoCal vanners, we're planning a meet up sometime in the Fall, prolly in OC. Good time to put faces to the posts and share ideas.

Will do! I will throw a full review on my thread. I am planning on camping a couple nights on the way back from Colorado so it should be a good shake down. We're in for a vanning meet-up, keep us posted! - Brian

Hey Slamo - Love your build. Curious how you mounted the 1up racks without using l-track? Any insite is appreciated.

Thanks!
I will try and get some pics up with details but I used the back to bolts from the factory mounts and then used some rivnuts for the front bolt. Plenty of strength to hold down the bikes and clean w/out the L-Track. I have never felt the need to move them around and if I do want to take them out (which I have a couple times now) it is just two bolts and they are gone with a flat surface in the back.

This is a really nice execution. Well done! Thanks for sharing the details. I went with the recessed track and raised/insulated the floor 1/2" to meet the flange of the l-track so that I didn't have to drill through the metal floor of the van.

I have had a busy last few months but have been wanting to post up some additions we made to the Slamo Van. Best of busy was putting the Sprinter to work across a number of trips with the family including two across Utah and Colorado.

I added a few small items that are fun, swivel passenger seat that I am not totally stoked on and we got the poptop installed last week. Taking it to the next level :)

Love it. Nothing like having beds for 4 plus a pack and play!

I like where CCV mounted your controls much better than where they mounted mine. I might relocate them now.

Well, it’s been almost two years with Sprinter and we have been dialing it in and making memorable experiences along the way.

We also have things situated so I thought I would share some of the simple things we use most often. I am now in the process of Rev3 in our “kitchen” area and have an Espar to install so I am fresh into build mode again [emoji13]

Here is our current setup for 90% of our trips

Back- bikes inside for shorter trips when not using the rack

RackAttach makes it easy

Passenger swivel - unfortunately this sticks out too far even with the seat slid all the way back and had some sharp edges.

Low bed if we use it

It is nice how CCV leaves more of the factory roof intact than SMB.
Looks way better inside.
Has to be safer, etc.

Safety upgrade while camping after my youngest split his head open on it

Switch box put in from CCV for the pop top and I added some LED switches - back facing side - where I will probably put the Espar controller.

These hangers are great

And up in the poptop too with rivnuts

Just like a Traditional house, we find that everyone tends to hang out in the kitchen. Our “kitchen” area is constantly evolving but we settled in a similar place as most people behind the driver seat now that our bench seat is not going to go in the forward position.

We started with a basic setup

Got this ladder that ended up being a perfect fit for the poptop. Still have it and don’t use it if anyone is interested.

And moved to some temp structure that we could move around

Moved from a top load Dometic to this Norcold fridge

Build a basic counter from a chop block and pine. Having the fridge open this way was much easier to get to stuff and the open shelves make it quick and easy to find our junk when we need it. This has been what have used for the last year plus.

Last week I added this little shelf to keep lights, tissue (rapid snot catching from the boys) and items we may need access to from the poptop.

Reality of its use from camping this weekend

Now I am working on adding a sink and a pump to attach to a tank I going to mount under the van. I rebuilt the cabinet by refinishing the top and using oak for everything else. This let drop the fridge and hopefully have enough room for a sink and some storage on top. Added a backsplash and was also able to remount the speaker that was covered up since it was mounted on the side panel.

After another test fit (and waiting on my sink to be delivered) I realized I made another big mistake... the sink is 7 1/4 deep but I did not account for the drain, attachment, tubes, etc. i was planning on running them out the side and down below behind the drivers seat but now I maybe stuck if I do not have the room. I cannot raise the counter any higher and I really want the sink over the fridge and in the corner so I will have to get creative.

Anyone know of a “slim” drain or another way to route the grey water out?

Thanks Paul!

That got me pointed in the right direction. Ultimately I would need to modify something to make that sink work so I just ordered a new Dometic sink from that site that will have 2" spare room.

That's my plan as well. Once I get enough time to redo my fridge cabinet. I've been debating square vs round. So let me know how you like it!

I'm debating that also. The one reason I am leaning toward square, is because once the glass cover is tipped up, it will give more protection as a backslpash. Once the round cover is up, there is less glass attached at the bottom, so splashes have more room to squeeze through.

Our original desire for water inside was to fill bottles so I think a square sink would allow us a bit more room to get larger ones under the faucet.

Before I got any further on the sink, I decided to knock out the Espar install. This let me wire up the electrical for the pumps and have room around the fuel tank before the water tanks go in.

The install is covered at length thanks to lack of detailed documentation from the manufacturer and good experienced folks sharing. I read and watched a ton of them in the last couple days and just kept these tabs open during the install. It was not easy and I am not going to admit to having fun spending so much time under the van but I know I would still be under there if not for access to these resources.

I got the “Sprinter” kit from Heatso and I was hoping I had everything I needed since I waited to watch/read about it until I started the install... In addition to the kit I ordered the following parts.

800-188 Fuel Connector
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CJLL3N6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
heat wrap - ended up getting this at a local auto store

Vent - thank you Hein
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Slotted-Ac...230286&hash=item1e98f23050:g:hj4AAOSwa39UyG8D
And the High Altitude Kit (HAK)

I would almost say these are requirements along with some protective cable to shield.

My from fuse box is now full

Ran the muffler down away from the slider

On lockdown

Going to mount the HAK on the right here - almost out of room

I was able to use the extra, extra long cable and the existing holes under the seat to run wire along with everything else to the drivers side for my water pump. This made me feel all warm and fussy inside and probably saved me hours in taking off the seat and crawling under the van again.

Still waiting on the HAK and hooking up the rest of the electrical to test but the majority is done. Thanks for everyone here posting your experience and advice!
