actually - for MBs with the radio prep option, i.e. no factory installed radio, you want a simple harness -
Metra 70-1784 Radio Wiring Harness
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002BEQKM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is what I used - was easy to move the pins to the proper position to match the factory harness for this option - which is referred to in the diagram on this thread. if I get some time, I'll post up a wire mapping I think I have somewhere...

I think the problem you encountered is the 1784-NAV harness is not the correct p/n for a 2014 and on Sprinter.
The correct harness is XSVI-9005-NAV I spoke to Metra today and confirmed for anyone who wants to know.

Is the mystery blue/red wire referred to in the diagram the CANbus wire, or does anyone know what it is?

I also have the mystery blue/red wire in my 2015 with ER0 & steering wheel controls - meaning there are a total of 10 wires into the harness, and not the 7 that are suggested in the manual (A1 and A5 have wires in them, but the manual says they are empty)

It's frustrating that this stuff isn't actually properly documented!

My sales guy erroneously ordered this option instread of a radio delete. I had to run 2 new CAN bus wires directly to the interior CAN junction terminal in order to use my steering wheel buttons.
2017 3500 with preinstallation. Sorry, late to the party. Trying to install ASWC-1. Where, exactly, do you run wires to? Where is the interior CAN junction terminal? Thanks
