Westfalia (VW camper fame) was a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Chrysler when Airstream did a joint venture with Westfalia to bring in the Westfalia to the USA in 2004-2006.

Daimler Chrysler sold off Westfalia, and under the new ownership, Westfalia ended up filing for bankruptcy.

Rapido (French) purchased Westfalia out of bankruptcy.

Thanks! Interesting... just hope "the French touch" doesn't come out like it did with Peugeot.... man, what a strange car to work on! (Used to own a 1982 504D wagon; great car to drive, but they sure did things their own way....)

I had a 1976 Peugeot 504D wagon, preceded by Renaults 16, 10, and 8 (all of mid to late 60's vintage). All purchased in well-used condition, and I did a lot of work on them, including major engine rebuilds of the Renaults, because I was an impoverished student. All of them were easier to work on than this Sprinter. They even had spin-on oil filters!
