Engine light and loss of power (max 3000 rpm)

Hi,
I have a 2012 Freightliner 2500 ext. I have right under 163K. I recently had he check engine light (left of speedo needle) come on. My last trip to Huntsville, AL on Friday, I lost engine power and would not go over +/- 3000 RPMs and would make quickshifts as I accelerate, losing power rapidly. If a manually shift up, it is better but never goes over 3000 RPMs. It started right after I loaded up (1500 lbs) in Atlanta and stayed that way till I got back home.
Any ideas on what can be the problem, is it something major or just a sensor somewhere?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Have a good day!!

Split in turbo hose put me in limp mode recently. Look at the hose and feel around the bottom and backside for a split or a hole. If you find a split or hole in the hose, duct tape the hose to seal it up. This should get you out of limp mode long enough to get to mechanic or some place where you can buy a replacement hose. This is all I've got. Good luck!

Our 2015 Sprinter 3500 is in the shop right now with this same issue (as well as others). MB initiated their Product Technical Support System (PTSS) and have their best and brightest working on it from afar. They had it for three weeks, were proud (or relieved) to return it to me, and it was back in their hands two days later. I'm told their FTS (Field Technical Specialist) will be flying to Bellingham, WA to personally analyze the issues. I'll keep you posted. Hopefully with something useful.

Update: From the repair receipt: "Poor contact between CDI control unit and wiring harness. Performed LI07.08-N-065219 wiring repair." So far so good.
