Mod: Fill-In Step for Sliding Door

OldWest

2004 T1N Westfalia
A Westy couple built a wood box which filled in the trapezoidal sliding door step. They had small grandkids who would accidentally fall/step into the opening. With the wood box, the opening was filled and flush with the floor. When sliding door was open, the wood box was removed and put on the ground as a step.

Don't remember the specs or have photos.

There are a couple of versions on the James Cook Friends forum.

Here's the footwell filler i built (my first Sprinter mod) ...
It can be lifted out if need be, but by leaving the outer face open, you can put your foot in it when entering and exiting. You have to turn and exit butt-first, but there's an MB grab bar up on the B pillar that helps.

p.s. the bungee hook has nothing to do with the step/filler... it was just accidentally lying there
