Our Westies have a unique swivel seat pedestal for the passenger front seat (column holds passenger seat). Our fire extinguisher is located there (maybe to meet RVIA requirements for an accessible extinguisher?).
The usual Sprinter of our vintage has a boxed in pedestal for use as a single auxillary battery or aftermarket storage safe.
On the James Cook Friends forum, a Westy owner enclosed/boxed in that area with a top lid access panel. The enclosed space was sloped (believe it was lower in front and higher in back?).
I currently have a coiled 30 amp cord and coiled fresh water hoses sitting under the front passenger seat fir easy access (so don't have to removed rear hitch mounted bicycle). They do move around, so an enclosure is a good idea. A side opening to enclosure box might be useful too.
