More Powerful Water Pump

Fellow inmates,

Has anyone out there found a more powerful water pump or had experience with one that would suggest it's not a good idea?

I am particularly frustrated with the pressure of the outside shower, but also the inside shower, and so am curious if there's higher volume 12v submersible water pump that could work.

I searched the forum, thinking I'd find an answer, but couldn't find anything and so am putting it out there, if anyone has advice or suggestions (or, again, experience that suggests it's not a good idea).

First couple of my pumps lasted a year or so. Last pump from Gowesty lasted several years although one poster had issues with their pump. Key is to make sure pump never runs without being immersed in water. Lots of postings here on how to replace.

1. Most Used Replacement

Seems like most Westy owners have purchased a replacement from GoWesty:

http://www.gowesty.com/product-details.php?id=2428

For most Westy owners, this pump works and is a lot cheaper (and faster to get) than the Airstream dealer replacement (if even available now).

2. The same manufacturer/distributor makes other submersible pumps under the Comet as well as other names like Elegant, etc. (with different water flows and a bunch of other unknown features).

https://www.comet-pumpen.de/en/products-rv/pumps/submersible-pumps/submersible-pumps-12-v.html

If you find one you like, you may be able to get one from a British or other European vendor.

The American counterpart (same company?) is Leisure Components. Don't have much info on their pumps and water flow. For example,

https://www.amazon.com/Leisure-Comp...1502250437&sr=8-5&keywords=Leisure+components

3. Other Pumps

Other posters have mentioned they purchased another name-brand pump. Check the Yahoo Sprinter Westfalia group site.

For example,

4. Other Things to Check

Existing pump in good condition? No clogs? No kinks in water hoses? Etc.

5. External Water Pump

Discus switched from a submersible to an external pump--a Shurflo Revolution, which apparently maintains water pressure versus using on/off switches--need to confirm. Believe pump was mounted in kitchen cabinet area.

I switched to the Gowesty pump (looks like an exact replacement) some years back and found the water pressure to be much better. I also carry a spare just in case; but the Gowesty pump has been very reliable.

Oldwest... again... thanks very much for all of the information.

Mogul2us... I too have a GoWesty pumps as well, (and a spare) and find them to be reliable as well... just looking for something with a bit more pressure.

You might consider a "Fury Handheld Shower" offered by CampingWorld.com. I just ordered one based on the product description and positive customer reviews that included... "excellent shower head flow and great pressure".
