I’ve seen plenty of posts about being able to measure the dpf soot % on the 2.1 but does anyone know if this works for the 3.0 v6?
Oh thanks! I was looking in the wrong place , somehow in my searches I kept only getting the 2.1ScanGauge claims to make X-gauge for it, but I no longer have the engine, so can't tell by experience.
Seems those gauges are not so easy to make. I contacted ScanGauge over a year ago and they send me 2 monitoring plugs for OM642 and OM651 engines.
When new X-gauge OM651 seem to work pretty well, took them long time to come with OM642 program and I heard it was not working too well.
I have the same dilemma on my Ford Powerstroke. The listed Xgauge for regeneration status did not work. They send me codes for another one and it doesn't work neither, although the 2nd 1 is showing something. I just can't figure out what as I have other indications of regeneration going, while gauge is not reporting.
DPF soot is calculated from differential pressure anyway, so observing that you will have some indications.
Didn't recommend purchase, only sharing availability. I only use two features, DPF Regenerations and LOD. Remainder of features superfluous for my needs. So the choice is $700 for MB box, that will monitor only MB DPF, or $50 ScanGauge who has tens of gauges and will work on all brands.
Think carefully.
The soot level is calculated the same on both I4 and V6, grams per liter. 8 grams per 1 liter (8g/L) is the fill level at which a regeneration is triggered.I’ve seen plenty of posts about being able to measure the dpf soot % on the 2.1 but does anyone know if this works for the 3.0 v6?
Oh wow, just noticed all the replies :thumbup. Mine is a 2017 v6, I’m not super concerned about the soot levels but I would like to be aware so that I know when I need to drive it on the highway for a while. I mostly do 20 min drives sometimes with stop and go but atleast some mountain diving about once a week for about 20 mins to get to skiing or mtn biking. The soot level is calculated the same on both I4 and V6, grams per liter. 8 grams per 1 liter (8g/L) is the fill level at which a regeneration is triggered.
The difference between I4 and V6 is how the regeneration is programmed to be triggered. An I4 Sprinter is programmed to trigger a regeneration in 2 different ways, soot level (8g/L) and travel distance (900km), whichever comes first. The V6 is programmed to trigger a regeneration base on soot level (8g/L) only, at least up to 2013 model.
What year is your van and why are you concern about soot level?

I read about all the dpf issues on this forum and just wanna try to avoid those as best as possible
Why are you concern about shutting the engine off during a regen? You should really be more concern about DEF and SCR systems and not the DPF. $1450 for a device that gives you a few live data values about the DPF system is a crazy amount to pay for in my opinion.I have a 2018 Sprinter, just installed the MB DPF monitor - it shows the estimated soot load and also has an indicator that goes off when the regeneration cycle is active. I primarily want to make sure I don't shut off the engine during a regen. cycle and/or know when I should head to the highway. Yes it's costly, $800 for the monitor and today spent another $650 for MB to install since my local diesel mechanic declined to do so.
I use both the DPF% and the Regen On/Off on my 2012 3.0 V-6.Oh thanks! I was looking in the wrong place , somehow in my searches I kept only getting the 2.1
for anyone else looking it appears to be this one (https://www.scangauge.com/xgauge/diesel-particulate-filter-load/)
I am mainly looking to see when the soot% is getting high so I know to drive it on the highway for a while. This is my daily driver atm
You certainly have more knowledge than me about Sprinters. Why are you concern about shutting the engine off during a regen?...
Would you read the forum wisdom - you'd buy ScanGauge before incident.Afterwards, I installed Scan Gauge II to monitor regenerations.

Still aborting 3 regeneration in the row takes some skills....
Next time you run out of beer during the party- go to story 5 miles away.
Bluetecs are not design for 1 mile trips.
I also have the MB DPF monitor. None of the 7 MB Dealerships in Michigan I contacted knew what it was. Where is your MB Dealership. Is the monitor the factory aftermarket model?I also have the MB DPF monitor. None of the 7 MB Dealerships in Michigan I contacted knew what it was. Where is your MB Dealership. Thanks.
Yes. It was purchased from Mercedes of Okemus in Michigan. I also purchased the Fuse and relay module contact spring (A016.545.41.26) and the 16-pin diagnostic connector contact spring (A000.826.01.74). I know you're supposed to run a wire from socket #8 on the OBD2 connector to connector C3 at socket #9 in the fuse box. I could not get the Fuse and relay module contact spring to lock into socket #9 after trying for many hours over a three day period. I don't have any prior experience doing electrical wiring so I'm working above my knowledge level. Mercedes of Okemus said they had never installed one of these monitors and that they would folIow the Mercedes installation manual. I know the instructions Mercedes gives in the manual have many errors. I need professional help. ThanksIs the monitor the factory aftermarket model?
