Catch Can Installation

This is some of the info I was sent, and it made sense to me. Again, these aren't my own observations, I want to credit the source that I cited above.

Here is a intake manifold tube of the 2.1 with around 80k on it where the egr Mixer pipe hooks up

How were those vehicles driven? Idle time? Lots of stop and go? Type of oil? Oil change frequency?

I'd have to know the history behind the image.

If that end result is commonplace, no matter what the vehicle user does, then wouldn't forums like this one be flooded with reports of carbon build up problems?

I did some research into a catch can for my GDI VW, and found absolutely nothing that could make or not make the case for an add on catch can. I elected to leave well enough alone, but I am changing the oil a bit more frequently. It probably isn't much different for a Sprinter.
