Sprinter Specific Tools

I've needed specialty tools to remove stuck injectors, broken glow plugs, and to install timeserts for stripped injector bolts. I've found that its easier and probably cheaper to buy these tools than to rent them.

Injector puller. Did its job perfectly. Bought on ebay for $60 shipped.

Its the M6x1.0 Extended kit

Broken Glow Plug Kit. I have not used it yet.

I bought this glow plug removal kit on ebay instead of renting it. It cost me around $120 shipped.

here is the link on how to use it.

I think this would be a good thread to list sprinter specific tools, where to buy, and to review if they worked or not.

MILLER TOOL 9543 COMPRESSION TEST ADAPTER 2.7L DIESEL on ebay. Paid around $25

Very useful. I tried to do compression tests but couldn't read the gauge i used effectively. This however worked perfectly for leak down test. Used a ratchet on the crankshaft bolt and pressurized each cylinder. This allows you to determine if you have bad rings, cracked piston, bad valves etc.

Sealey Diesel Glow Plug Socket Set 4pc 3/8"Sq Drive. Paid around $32 on ebay.

I haven't used it yet but I think it would come in handy if needed.

Great post, thanks. I also had to purchase the injector puller, but got and original from the UK. I guess the Chinese copy works as well. Either way a great tool, forget the Miller fork and slide hammer, they may work for newer sprinter models but not for my 2003 one.

I ran into this post looking for the stripped hold down bolts, mine seem to have had either already an insert in it that stripped when I tried to tighten them or I just messed up.

Either way, thanks for the link, $102.00 it was however on the time sert no cheaper copy for that tool.

I purchased the otc 6735 tool set from amazon to remove the ball joints on 02-06 sprinters.

This tool works perfect to get the knuckle off the lower control arm. It will not work to get the ball joint out. I cut a 2-3/8" fence pipe and used that in a shop press to get the ball joint out and press the new one in.

Overall the tool was worth buying because I couldn't remove the knuckle with anything else.
