Ive been having a grinding metal rubbing noise coming from somewhere up front right after I start the engine. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it starts perfect. Anybody have an idea of what this could be and how to fix it? Thanks

Check your harmonic balancer on the front end of the crankshaft. They have a history of the rubber bond failing and the outer ring rubbing on the timing chain cover.

If it has failed stop driving it immediately and come back for more info!

Guessing: Besides starter, anything else which spins when start up engine.

Maybe remove serpentine belt and check the two idler pulleys (spin smoothly with resistance), tensioner, alternator pulleu, ac compressor pulley, etc.

Please don't forget to post what you end up finding.

(Don't know if you can record noise and post on this forum for experts to hear.)
