Well Premier Truck Group is parts of Penske based out of Texas .
Penske is based in Michigan
This company as a group has been gobbling up big truck commercial dealerships nationwide and consolidating.
This organization as a group is doing about $30,000,000, 00 per annum in revenue .
Now if we look at truck business in NA, the heavy trucks are maybe badged Freightliner for their market sector specialization, but the power packs and running units are DEFINITELY not MB products as might find in Euro build trucks.
So mostly US made units all supported by Detroit Diesel Group.
Now the Sprinter range might have been commercial category vehicle in the past when imported by Dodge/badged Freightliner, and MB in the early years, but it has progressively morphed into a specialist product catering to a niche market vehicle, more akin to the private car business sector than commercial truck business activity .
Made only more poignant by recent announcements by MB it only makes good business sense to dump Sprinter platforms from their franchise portfolio .
Frankly I would have done the same.
Simply put, the newer Sprinters are definitely NOT commercial vehicles, and clearly don't fit into their business model.
