Exclamation Wheels & Tyres, Going from 15" to 16"

Yes my UK spec TN1 4x2 313 Sprinter is on 15" from new!

I want to go with 16" rims with a larger overall diameter tyre. My experience of doing similar with other vehicles had been a disaster in some cases as the change over geared the transmission so that 5th gear was un-usable unless going down hill!

Has anyone gone for larger diameter tyres, and how did it change the drivability of the van?

(Clearance in the arches is not an issue at this stage)

Thanks in advance.

People do it all the time with Sprinters and it is 100% successful. I personally have done it on a 2500 (single rear axle) and a customer I have right now is contemplating the switch for his 3500 (dually).

Does changing size effect speedometer readings? Thanks

Yes.

Anything less than 10% larger generally isn't a problem.
