What did you do to your Sprinter today.

Today I dumped the contents of this 3500 rear differential! I asked the original owner about it and he said it had never been done!
So... 205,550 miles later I changed it......
Grey slop that stank enough to make on lookers gag..it really needed doing.

Bizarrely enough after the change its coasts/rolls much further in neutral so I'm looking forward to seeing a mpg increase.
It got refilled with EP 75-90 fully synthetic oil with a shot of Redline LIGHTWEIGHT SHOCKPROOF 75w140 for good measure.

For anyone searching in the future the diff on my sprinter had a 14mm Allen key type bung to drain it and a rubber bung in the filler.
Happy days

I'd be inclined to do a repeat drain and fill immediately after a long journey.
Certainly couldn't hurt, not take long or cost much.

Washed Sprinter in the rain: the van had ash spotting from forest fires. Two days of rain may have softened the ash spotting, used Meguiars one step car wash Shampoo&Conditioner, it got my turkeyass off the couch. Think in one+hour I'll do it again.

Changed front and rear pads and rotors, and put in new parking brake pads while I was in there. No more squeaking brakes!!!

I followed Bobnoxious's lead (and product tip, thanks!) and wrapped an insulation layer partially around the most exposed (to heat) sections of my harness. Probably overkill but what the heck, why not? I used a slightly smaller diameter wrap than the harness which left 1/4" to 1/2" of the harness unwrapped. It was unintentional (to leave the gap) but in the end I'm fine with it. I kept the gap facing away from the heat and the gap allows any moisture to escape.

Today, inspected my differential flange seal to esure it wasn't weeping/leaking. Also removed MOOP from Center Mount Support Bearing.

Today I ran a juicy cable up the A pillar to the overhead compartment in the front from the battery bay under the floor, this powers 2 switched 3amp usb sockets either side of the 3 way light switch, handy for charging items in the overhead storage area and satnav etc.

They fitted perfect in the empty slots for the factory microphone for the phone system I don't have.
Removing the compartment was a challenge untill I spotted the tiny slots inside the compartment for a small flat blade screwdriver ,the other 3 inside clips are easy to see when the light is removed.

Maybe an upgrade to one of your posh canbus led roof dome lights one day..

I'll go outside and take a picture finished, I used sugru to block and gaps and reinforce it.

I can't get the picture to show.. I'm on my phone copy and paste... They will be in my gallery on my profile

Here all put back

There is an extra hole.. that was the original switch position but the overhead lamp guts interference happened. So the hole will have a red led down light in there connected the the same switch, flick it forward for usb charger flick it back for red projector LEDs to light up if I drop anything up from and do t want t to be blinded by the standard light.

Nice idea.

I just converted the front OEM interior light unit on my T1N to have USB for a dash cam. For the T1N the 12 volts can just be tapped off the always on lamp power.

A similar round dual USB unit that I mounted in the lamp lense may fit the NCV3 plastic somewhere.

or just add a panel to the headliner. It can include a voltmeter and a switch.

An example for options, not a product endorsement. There are 2 - 4 hole options, some in-line.

I just did something similar in the cargo area of my NCV3. I added individual power switches to the usb outlets since they are illuminated when power is applied. Thought the ones I order were not, but discovered otherwise once powered up...

The red wires throughout the rear interior (for the lights) are constant +12vdc with the canbus switching the ground. I just established a frame ground to complete the circuit for my manually controlled items. Tapping off of the red, which is fuse #19 - 7.5amps.

Today I replaced the left hand side mirror indicator bulb, after going to 3 automotive shops and then trying to sell me a metal conventional common bulb..
I explained then showed them a picture "Oh no, never seen anything like that before" he said. There are so many sprinters in the road.. fancy not stocking a bulb.
So £3.40 later on eBay I got one, if you wanted a genuine bulb it was over £10!

Anyway very easy job, no need for any tools just pop the bottom mirror off then pop the top section off then you can get your fingers on the bulb plug. A quick anticlockwise turn and out it pops.
Happy days

Today I fitted a badass rear bumper/protector made from thick steel with a tow bar. I got a right bargain on the bay.
A really enjoyable 300 mile get to know you drive in this sprinter and I was home again with this badboy.

https://www.hopetechnical.co.uk/sho...s/mercedes-sprinter-2006/delta-beam-towing-3/ but with the added recess step. Absolutely perfect

An absolute fluke that it fitted as a TRW(twin rear wheel) isn't that common here (because of the extra license of anything above 3.5ton) and the listing didn't mention anything other than 2008! I completely forgot about all options before I took off for the drive so I feel very lucky.
Great start to the weekend

p.s I. Didn't pay the scary new price!

I just finished taking out the fourth seat and building and installing a custom cabinet for more storage and to install my new ARB 50Qt Refrigerator. I left the "Dog of a Frig - Dometic" in there in case I ever sell my Sprinter (never plan to but just in case). The Dometic Frig just could not keep things cold/frozen when temps here in Texas got above 80-85F. The ARB is works great. No problem keeping things colder than they need to be in the hottest of temps.
