Default RECALL: Kiddie Fire Extinguishers

The original small under the front passenger seat extinguisher may be a Kiddie extinguisher which could be under a recall. Also, some folks may have installed a larger extinguisher in the driver stepwell using the fire extinguisher bracket--may want to double-check that extinguisher.

The Kiddie website (second link below) is a bit confusing with three date time periods and two different model charts.

Do you have to send the old one back? If you have to pay for shipping it may be about the same to just buy a new one.

If you visit the Kiddie site, you'll see that the process is:
(a) register your extinguisher(s), keep them in service until (b).
(b) they send you a/many new extinguishers
(c) you put old extinguishers in the "new" boxes and return them (they pay the freight)

That's standard safety recall procedure. No cost to customer

I believe this recall covers about 40 million units.

I have just received the first (of two) Kiddies that i registered for the recall.

The new unit is twice the weight/size of my old unit, and came with a wall sign.
(old: a 1995 "1 pound" 1-A, 10-B,C)
(new: "2 pound" 2-A, 10-B,C)

The return label covers FedEx pick-up as well, just call the supplied phone number.

p.s. the bigger bottle could be an issue if you've built a custom niche for it...
