I have been reading most of the posts in this forum and I have begun to cut and glue and paste and starting to make stuff. This is my first post under heading of RV conversions, and I will following the style and organization of Orton DIY, since the information is easy to follow and reference within the wealth of information on this site.
I have assembled a work in process (WIP) Bill of Material (BOM), that I will share with anyone who cares to look at it. It is constantly evolving and is filled with optional items as well as tracking items ordered. Items shown in blue are items I have ordered and committed to install and marked with an 'X' in the first column. Items under consideration are all listed as well as optional items identified with an 'O' in the first column. The file is shown as a pdf attachment.
My overall design concept is to minimize use of fuel/energy types thereby wishing to limit to the following:
My goal is to furnish with mostly 12VDC power electrical equipment including TV/video equipment. I have installed a DVD, CD, GPS, HD radio in center console as a replacement of Dodge radio.
Attached is electrical diagram I am using as a guide, to which I am currently making changes. As you can see I have taken the liberty to use other folks fine work. Thanks Dave. I would like to place the single inverter/charger under the passenger seat with the awareness of voltage loss given the distance from house batteries. I will be creating my own electrical schematic to reflect as built conditions. In the meantime, I have begun to markup Dave's approach.
Intended use as a 1-5 day travel RV since we travel back and forth from RI to FL 4 times/year. At both locations we would like to do local weekend trips. In 2-4 years, we would like to travel throughout the US in 3-6 week durations, just myself, wife (alias honeybunny) and Mistyblu our lovable BlueTick Coon Hound.
I have started to rough in wiring (10, 12, and 14 GA THHN) for various items I wish to incorporate. I would like to place (2) 6V batteries using existing auxillary battery tray in engine compartment. My goal is to place as many components outside the living area if possible, including air/water heater.
Major BOM will include:
I hope to add entertaining value as well, and encourage comment especially negative concerns, since I have no problem doing things over if the changes are required, for both safety and comfort.
